Bme health living partnership

brings together seven local organisations from the local community who work with black and minority ethnic local residents to build a programme of work which promotes health and wellbeing

Partnership members:

  1. Widows and Orphans International
  2. Sickle Cell and Thalassamia Support Group
  3. Ethnic Minority Partnerships Agency
  4. Barking and Dagenham Muslim Social and
  5. Cultural Society Ltd,
  6. EPO-Community Gardening  
  7. Translation and Interpreting Services.

The partnership has set up a range of programmes targeting black and ethnic minority residents with activities such as fitness and gardening programmes, workshops on health issues such as men’s health and mental health.

The early successes
Training a range of level one smoking cessation advisors at local mosques to work with muslim men and help support local residents find support for giving up smoking.

the Sickle Cell Thalassaemia group to recruit extra staff and open an office at the Oxlow Lane Health Centre on Mondays to Thursday from 11am  to 3:30pm
